Going away? Don’t come home to burst pipes.

It’s every homeowner’s nightmare: coming home after an extended absence or returning to your cottage to find water damage.

As if finding water damage isn’t bad enough, there’s actually a chance you WON’T be covered by your insurance if the damage is caused by burst pipes due to freezing. That’s because many insurance companies have a policy requirement stating that if you take a vacation or extended absence during the heating season, you must take steps before you go to prevent your pipes from freezing. So be sure to check with your broker to review your requirements BEFORE you go away.

At Generations, we’re always looking out for policy requirements and how they affect our clients. We’re also happy to answer your questions, so please don’t hesitate to contact us.
